Come on . Look at this photo and tell me if the old man on the center doesn't look like some mafia boss ?
The guy on the right side looks like Tony Soprano and the other one on the left is Pussy .
I made this photo on a Monday afternoon in Turin but it could be Sicily as far as i can tell from the pic .

There i was running around the realllllllly expensive shopping area in Milan looking for a friend who was there waiting to take the dozen bags Miss Shi had after her shopping spree !
But even with all the madness i saw this 2 peoples sitting on this set of stairs like they were at some oasis in the middle of Milan . I made this photo and went back look for my friend ! I'm glad a pic just take a fraction of a second to be made !!!!

The great war photographer Philip Jones Griffiths died tuesday after a cancer battle .
I love the great landscape,portrait ,fashion... photographers but in imho war photographers are the ones who really deserve all the honors .
Read "unreasonable behavior" by don McCullin , watch "war photographer" James Nachtwey or Films and books about Capa and you will see what these great photographers had to go through to get the shoot .
Some die , got insane , depressed but few hold strong and thanks to All of them the world could have an idea of all the horrible things the human being can do to another during war times .
Philip , i am sure you are in a better place and in peace .

Here are 2 pics i took about 15 years a go when i was a young photographer looking for action on the streets of Sao Paulo/ Brazil .
This men was shoot dead and laid there for hours waiting someone to pick up his body . The cops just hanged around doing nothing .
After i took this photo i didn't feel well at all . Me and my poor Yashica FXD had another encounters with dead bodies but i never forgot this first one .
I wish i have the other negatives with me here in Japan , but the rest of it are in some shoe box in my room in Brazil .

I know ! you have come here a few times and was disappointed with the lack of updates . Sorry about that .
Is winter here in Japan and as you all know i am from sunny Brazil . What's make me kind useless this time of the year .
I have to try really hard to get off bed everyday to go to work and i fail miserable a few times .
But like always Miss Shi got me to take a trip to Nagoya this weekend .
We spend the day shopping and eat as much we could . I filled up my belly with the delicious tonkatsu what nagoya is famous for and some real meat at aussie steak house "outback".This pic here show why i should be thankful for my warm bed and heater . I can't believe how someone can sleep like this on a bare floor at sub-zero temperature . I know this man probably has no other choice but still .
Another thing about this photo is the contrast between the homeless and the poster over him !!!!!! A nice spa for relaxing and skin care .
The golden times when Japan almost didn't have homeless are gone . Now you can see them all over the place on the big cities . Better get my act together and go to work everyday otherwise i will be sharing a place with this poor lad ! Let's hope not :)

This weekend , me and the guys from Steel body [>] went to Tokyo.
The System Hard core event was a mix of freak performers , tattoo artists , piercings, pole dancers , S&M shows , body painting and some other things i don't even know how to name it !!
But did i had a blast time ? You can bet !
It's amazing how these peoples who look and act soo hardcore can be sweet , friendly and free of any kind judgment towards others .
Seven hours driving each way through snow was well worth !
Thanks to Leo , Jun , Aline (porque ?) and Hitomi for the vibe and fun !
The lady on this pic is S1n Fist3d an extreme pole dancer and performer (google her name , you will find exactly what she can do ;). Behind the mask and the scary contact lens is a fun , cool and down to earth girl . Who did signed a model release without bitch about what i would do with the photos . I wish more "normal" peoples could be as open and nice as she and the other "freaks " there .
I never got a model's release signed so easy like this time ! every single person who i asked to sign it , did it with a big smile on their faces ! And some of them were naked !

The "geisha district" , one of the main attractions of Kanazawa . Lovely and calm area to hang out except when some tourist bus stop by and an ocean of
peoples flood the place .

A couple years back Miss Shi took me to Ono city . A place where the local's can make almost anything with a shoyu flavor ,even icecream .
The folks of Ono city still manufacturing shoyu in a old school way what gives the local black liquid a really good reputation . Besides , the area is surrounded by old style japanese houses , quiet streets , friendly peoples and right by the sea .
So if you ever make to Ishikawa don't forget to include Ono city in your list of "must to see " places . Is way off the beaten path of the tourists maps and well worth a visit .

Kaze no bon matsuri . One of the biggest and oldest festival in Japan .
I've been there twice with Miss Shi and had a great time both times.
When the night comes the main show is ready to go . Thousands of peoples are gathering around the city without breaking the atmosphere of feudal japan the festival evokes .
If you are a tourist looking for good food , Japanese traditional music , dance and a taste of old Japan . Kaze no bon matsuri is the gig for you . But if you are a photographer like me it can be a bit frustrating if you not have a tripod with you and a good portable flash . I hope the next version of Nikon's D3 comes with even a better quality for the iso 6400 what is already amazing on it !
I better start to save some money for the purchase when the D3x comes out so i can go to Kaze no bon matsuri this year and get well exposed photos without a tripod and flash !!!!! Dreams , dreams !
